Friday Five – Recipe for a perfect day

Friday Five – Recipe for a perfect day

Friday Five take 1: This Friday we’re giving you Design i sentrum’s recipe for a perfect Friday in Barcelona. Start the day off at La Boqueria, Barcelona’s famous food market and a popular tourist destination. Designed by architect Josep Mas i Vila and opened in 1840, this marked covers an area of 2583m2 and is jam packed with beautiful displays of vegetables and fruit, small tapas bars, huge crowds and wonderful smells. What are you waiting for?

Friday Five take 2: Pop down to the beach and enjoy a quiet moment with a good book (if you avoid Barceloneta some beaches are less crowded, especially so early in the season). I’m reading The Cathedral of the Sea by Ildefonso Falcones. Just the perfect literature to bring to a Barcelona beach. Staring out at the Mediterranean Sea and trying to imagine what the harbor looked like some 700 years ago.

Friday Five take 3: Take some time off to stroll up and down the streets of L’Eixample, watching the light change and looking up at the many amazing buildings. Having lived in Barcelona for years, I still discover something new almost every day.

Friday Five take 4: Have a meal in one of the many fantastic restaurants in Barcelona. We love this place that mixes good tea, art and interior design with fantastic food and entertainment. If you haven’t already been to ArtTe, we highly recommend it!

Friday Five take 5: Finally, end the evening with a glass of wine in the exclusive and amazing Palau Dalmases. This baroque palace dating back to the seventeenth century will take your breath away and give you a hint of what life may have been like here back in the days.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Friday Five. Have a great weekend!
