Design and construction of kindergarten in Oslo.
The interesting use of materials and the adaptation of the new architecture to the style of the
existing wooden houses in Kampen, assured that the project “Ullensakergata Kindergarden” won the
competition announced by the City of Oslo, Agency for Real Estate and Urban Renewal.
Close collaboration between architect, interior architect and client to create a functional interior that,
in addition to satisfying the requirements of a good workplace, would also take into account the children’s well being,
development and play, set the framework for the interior architecture. Soundproof materials with a homely
feel were chosen to encourage the children’s creativity and input.
The introduction of windows and a kitchen counter ajusted to their heights further invites
to new use and companionship – on the children’s terms. Large windows
and soothing coloures allow changes in the seasons and the weather outside to affect the interior.
Nominated for Oslo City Architecture Prize in 2012.
